Framing The World Through My Photographs

Assignment 1 – Dove campaign

In 2006 Dove launched their real beauty campaign to promote the Dove Self-Esteam Project. The centre of the campaign is a 75 second time lapse video produced by Ogilvy & Mather in Toronto Canada. The piece was first promoted online first been shown on the 6th october 2006 and was later broadcast on TV and cinema spot in the Netherlands and the Middle East.

The sequence:

  • Starts with an ordinary girl entering a room and sitting down
  • Two harsh lights are switched on
  • Hair and make up
  • Camera flashes as the photographer starts to take the photographs .
  • Images moved to Photoshop
  • Neck lengthened
  • Shoulder curves adjusted
  • Altering hair and skin
  • Enlarge eyes and mouth
  • Cuts to the edited image which is almost unrecognisable on a billboard.

This film supports Ritchins text even more as it shows how much you can trust the images that we see everyday on advertisements.
